Arrivals and Departures

The starting point for this work was a visit to Auschwitz with my wife who has a Jewish family background. I was particularly affected by the film footage shown at the Auschwitz museum which showed families boarding trains as part of a planned extermination programme. The other images in the series draw on references closer to home and the thirty years of the troubles. How people meet and part to leave bodies on the street or on wasteland mutilated or dying. Events that have become too numerous to remember in detail but that have remained in my subconscious.
